The world is full of young football talents.
They grow up in the streets of São Paulo, Buenos Aires, Abuja or Belgrade, and the world is literally to their feet, so to speak. In our work and research in BabaGol, we discover many players that don’t get the focus or the chance to showcase what they can produce.
Juan Gafas, our ‘shadow’ scout, with this weekly talent.
Blas Armoa
Age: 19
Club: Sportivo Luqueño (Paraguay)
Position: Winger
Nationality: Paraguay
Market Value: €100,000 (Transfermarkt)
Why follow him? At his young age, Armoa has already completed three seasons as a regular starter for Luqueño, and was Luqueño's most consistent and productive attacking player in the last season.
In the standards of Paraguayan football, Armoa is already a good winger with a decent set of skills and desire to help his side when defending as well. Off the ball, he possesses knowledge how to penetrate the rival's defence with well-timed movement, which can be more lethal with better service from his teammates. On the ball he is skilled and can shift his balance quickly when dribbling, making it difficult to subdue him. Armoa is a team player who knows when he should pass the ball, and this comes from his vast experience for his age - a sign of a mature personality as well.
To compete in higher levels, he will need to be a more versatile threat, offering more than his excellent movement and composure inside the box, and he currently lacks power to threat from distance.
He will soon represent the Paraguay U23 team in the Pre-Olympic tournament, even though he is younger than most players and might not play a big role. But if he will get a chance, I think he can be a real game changer for the national team in this tournament.
