The world is full of young football talents.
They grow up in the streets of São Paulo, Buenos Aires, Abuja or Belgrade, and the world is literally at their feet, so to speak. In our work and research in BabaGol, we discover many players that don’t get the focus or the chance to showcase their true potential.
Juan Gafas, our ‘shadow’ scout, with his weekly talent.
Jaminton Campaz
Age: 19
Club: Deportes Tolima (Colombia)
Position: Attacking Midfielder, Winger
Nationality: Colombia
Market Value: €500,000 (Transfermarkt)
Why follow him? The phrase “good things come in small packages” couldn't be more accurate in this case, as the 5.6 ft Campaz is a real gem with excellent ball control and a lethal left foot from distance.
Campaz’s small stature can be unappealing for some European clubs, but I'm certain those who will follow him will see how well he can do regardless. Although less effective as a winger, as he drifts to the middle and is less keen to defend, Campaz is very good when playing under the striker. When receiving a ball between the lines, his ability to take on his opponent and then deliver a sharp through ball or a powerful shoot is lethal. He does not shy away from attempting from distance, as he scored a couple and was denied by the keeper or the goal posts a few more times, with a surprising power in his shots. While still young, I'm quite sure he will become a regular starter for Tolima this season.
His home region Tumaco his known for its talented footballers, his brother (Mike) and another relative (Carlos Darwin Quintero) are a couple of them, and I believe Jaminton has the skills to become better than most of them and fulfill his dream of playing in Spain.
