The 2020 season in Belarus is certainly as interesting as it could be.
Besides it being the only European league played until this weekend, it also shows little disparity between the teams.
There are barely easy games anymore, and mid-table teams seem to struggle to connect a few wins in a row. Instability is the current pandemic, and teams try and cure it.
Dinamo Minsk v Isloch
Today’s game between the historical powerhouse and one of the season’s early surprises epitomizes this trend perfectly. Both teams came into today with zero ties, and with six point separating them. Their forms have been patchy in recent weeks, with streaks of no more than two wins or two losses in a row at any point of the season.
A tough one to predict, but eventually the hosts from the capital had the upper hand. An aggressive duel with eight yellow cards and one red did not particularly help with the tempo or the general quality of the match - but these are the type of games you need to toughen out.
Ivan Bakhar scored the only goal from close range in the 60th minute, as he received an accurate through ball from the right wing via Aleksey Rios. Edgar Olekhnovich was sent off for Dinamo thirteen minutes later, but his team held on for the win.
