Matchday 8 of the Belarus Premier League kicked off on Friday.
Energetik BGU travelled to leaders Slutsk, and produced a great win via two penalties which catapulted them to second place.
Slutsk - Energetik BGU
This showcase between the leader and fourth place provided to be a tough and aggressive match - especially by the guests who produced eight yellow cards (and one red card as a result).
However, the two more important fouls were made by Slutsk’s defence, and led to two penalties. First, Aleksey Nosko was fouled in the box in the 16th minute - and Uzbeki striker Jasurbek Yaxshiboev sent the keeper the wrong way to make it 1-0. In the 27th minute, home defender Vitali Trubilo pushed Yaxshiboev in front of goal, and the sharpshooter scored his 6th of the season from the penalty spot.
On the brink of halftime, the hosts pulled one back via their best player of the season so far - Nigerian Umar Bala, who scored from close range. However, it was not enough, even as the guests were down to 10 men from the 71st minute after the dismissal of Aik Musahagian. 2-1 final score, and Energetik with their second away win in a row. Slutsk remain top, but perhaps not for long.
In another game, Gorodeya and FC Minsk drew 1-1 - both maintaining their respectable mid-table status.
