This is it. The 2021 Africa Cup of Nations final is here, and it is between two of the best teams in Africa, two of the biggest African superstars, and a true showcase of the football greatness the continent has to offer.
Yesterday we skipped our third-place play-off prediction (seriously, who predicts a third place match?), so today marks the end of our prediction efforts for this truly unpredictable tournament.
So far, we’ve correctly predicted 26 out of 50 games, which gives us a 52% success rate in this bizarre tournament, where four of the six lowest ranked teams made it to the knockouts.
But it’s all down to tonight’s big match. Senegal or Egypt. Who will win the title?

Senegal v Egypt, 20:00 CET, Stade d’Olemebe, Yaoundé
The game we’ve all been waiting for since the tournament started is here, and it is a tough one to call. On the one hand Senegal have the best player this tournament, Liverpool’s Sadio Mané (three goals and two assists), with a coach that needs the silverware, Aliou Cissé, and a group of talented and combative players.
On the other hand, Egypt, under Carlos Queiroz, has nurtured and developed their “it’s us against the world” approach, which helped push them through the knockout stage. And they’ve needed it too, they’ve played 120 minutes in every game since the last 16. Queiroz is suspended after his behaviour in the semi-finals earned him a red card, yet Egypt’s character and fighting spirit are unmatched, and they arrive fully confident for tonight’s final.
BabaGol’s prediction: Egypt after extra time.
