According to BabaGol sources in the UAE, several Arabian Gulf League clubs are showing interest in the Israeli national team player, Beram Kayal.
Kayal, who has 45 caps in the Israeli national team, is currently a free agent after his contract with Brighton & Hove Albion from the English Premier League has ended.
In the UAE Pro League, each team is allowed to list as many foreign players as it wants but can only use up to four per game, and at any given moment during the match.
The deadline for squads' listing in the Arabian Gulf League is in the first week of October, and as a free agent, Kayal is free to sign there.
The former Celtic and Charlton Athletic man is not the first Israeli player to attract attention from Emirati clubs. Now, after Eran Zahavi' signing with PSV Eindhoven, it can be said that there was an Emirati club that showed interest in the Israeli scorer. The club hesitated to act first with such a “hot potato” that attracts a lot of media attention while the agreement between the two countries is only taking its first steps.
All these stories join Hapoel Beer Sheva's invitation to Shabab Al-Ahli Dubai for a friendly match; Hapoel Tel Aviv and its ties with Khaled al-Qassami - an investor from the UAE; and of course the contacts between Beitar Jerusalem and Emirati businessmen. Reportedly, these talks were or are mediated by Sulaiman Al-Fahim, who was involved in the famous 2008 Manchester City deal and later was the owner of Portsmouth for a short period.
It is essential to mention that none of these actions will be carried out without the approval of Muhammad bin Zayed, the most powerful man in the UAE and the only authority in regarding the new ties between the United Arab Emirates and Israel.
