Peru is one of the most growing talent pools in Latin America at the moment.
It’s not a coincidence that Juan Gafas, our shadow-scout, is finding himself fascinated by Peruvian talent. Matías Succar, Paolo Reyna and Yuriel Celi are all talented Peruvians that caught the eyes of Juan.
By the way, today’s player marks the 40th footballer to be featured in Juan’s report since we kicked-off this project more than a year ago. Just deep dive into the BabaScouted directory and find your next talent for your Football Manager season or even your actual club. Now meet Jordan Guivin.

Position: Centre Midfielder
Nationality: Peruvian

At the time I'm writing this text Guivin just scored a hat-trick, making me feel better with choosing him for this week's report. While his team had its up and downs, the box-to-box midfielder was positive and consistent since I've started watching him. Guivin and fellow midfielder Jairo Concha, another talented young player (21 years old), were crucial to San Martin's good run in recent weeks.
Guivin has good technical skills; he does not lose possession often, can get out of trouble dribbling away in tight spaces and get fouled more often than losing the ball when in duels. One of the things I like the most about him is his understanding of which spaces to occupy and when, if it is between the lines, attacking the box or running in behind. No wonder he is such a threat on the opposition defence, often in the right place to receive or to get first to the second ball. However, his executing and decision making when receiving in these spaces still needs polishing. He has good technic when taking set-pieces too, resulting in a couple of real golazos.
He lacks physical presence, and while he has a good engine and can win possession back for his side, his physical attributes may be a problem in the future.
Guivin is probably one of the best midfielders in the Peruvian league, and with his current form, he will eventually be called up for the national team. However, I'm not sure how important is the role that he can play in it. He is one of those players who are excelling in the level they are currently playing at, and clearly have the potential to step up, but I still have some doubts about how high the potential is. A test run in a more intensive football soon will help dispel my doubts.
