Coronavirus Times: Early Cinderellas continue to impress

Matchday 7 of the Belarusian Premier League has kicked into full force on Saturday, as the two early surprising packages of the season won again.

Slutsk and Torpedo BelAZ both travelled to the capital Minsk for tough away games but impressively came out on top.

FC Minsk v Torpedo BelAZ

The early game proved to be the most impressive display by any team in Belarus this season, as the guests from Zhodino absolutely stormed out of the gates for a 5-2 win.

After 36 minutes it was already 3-0: Valeri Gorbachik scored twice and Kiril Premudrov added one. All goals exposed some shocking defending by the hosts, who could only produce one goal of their own in return, courtesy of former international Vladimir Khvashchinskiy in the 40th minute.

Even before half-time, Gorbachik completed his hattrick with a nice shot to the far corner. In the second half, the game was fairly quiet - with the outcome pretty much sealed. Brazilian substitute Lipe Veloso hit a bullet to the top corner to make it 5-1, while Minsk scored a late consolation via Ognjen Rolovic. 5-2 full time.

Dinamo Minsk v Slutsk

After seeing Torpedo BelAZ take over first place, Slutsk wanted to make sure they wouldn’t stay there for long. Dinamo Minsk’s glory days are way behind them, and the guests proved that once again.

It was a win painted with the colors of Burkina Faso: Dramane Salou (22nd minute) continued the daily trend of long range hits; and Abdoul Gafar (52nd minute) put Slutsk ahead in a commanding lead. Ivan Bakhar from Dinamo missed a penalty in between.

A single goal by Croatian Karlo Bručić was not enough for the hosts, who continue their season of instability. Slutsk return to the top spot after only three hours, and will look forward to host Energetik-BGU next week.
