Tractor leads PGPL after key victories shake standings

Tabriz, Iran​ — Tractor S.C. surged to the top of the Persian Gulf Pro League standings with a decisive 3–0 home victory over Malavan, capitalising on Sepahan's 2–0 triumph over Persepolis to edge closer to their first-ever league championship.​

Tractor's Dominant Display

At the Yadegar-e Emam Stadium, Tractor delivered a commanding performance against Malavan. The Azeri club's attacking prowess was on full display, with goals from Amir Hosseinzadeh and Croat Domagoj Drozdek, securing the win. This victory not only extended their unbeaten home record but also propelled them to the summit of the league standings.​

Sepahan's Crucial Win

In a significant fixture at Azadi Stadium, Sepahan defeated Persepolis 2–0, a result that impacted the title race dynamics. Both goals arrived early on in the game, with Mohamed Mohebi scoring after two minutes, and an own goal by the Georgian centre-back, Giorgi Gvelesiani, in the twelfth minute. Wessam Ben Yedder who recently signed for Sepahan, entered a substitution.

This outcome allowed Tractor to overtake both Sepahan and Persepolis in the standings, positioning them favorably for the championship run-in.​
