A First Since the Revolution: Syrian U20 Takes To The Field

Amid the dramatic events of this week, Syrian football marked a historic milestone.

For the first time since the fall of Bashar al-Assad's regime, a Syrian national football team played an official match, debuting their new green kits and redesigned logo.

The Syria U20 squad faced Uzbekistan and Qatar in their first games under the new identity, with both matches ending in 0-0 draws. While the Syrian people proved that a 53-year dictatorship could be overthrown in mere days, transforming the nation’s football DNA remains a far more gradual process.
